| You've given them your money...you've bought into their "For all your stuff" propoganda....now that you are all set to store all your important data on their disks, it is time that you learned the hard way that: | ![]() |
|
| ZIP SUCKS!!! | ||
| Here is what they forgot to tell you: |
***This is a SCSI device which supports no SCSI adaptors!!!! |
|
| Take a look at this: | ||
| After spending hours combing every retail computer store in the city, I resigned myself to the ultimate in modern technology, worse than any line at a bank or the supermarket....the --> | ||
| ELEVATOR MUSIC, SIT BY YOUR SELF ON THE PHONE type of line | ||
| After sitting for an inhumane period of time, I was told by a customer
service rep that I needed to talk to a tech. The tech put me on hold
again and then finally graced me with his presence long enough to say that
he did not know any part numbers, and that I should address my questions
to the customer service rep.
GEEZ!!!! |
||
| Well, anyway, this time around I was told that the adaptor which I
needed (a 50HD to 25 connector) was available and was called part number
"10048." This sounded too easy, so I asked and was quickly assured that
this was indeed the part which I needed...but, Iomega does not sell it.
I was refered to their supplier who sold the device to me for $30. |
Costs Thus Far:
$229.00 |
|
| Okay, problem solved right? Well it would have been if the customer service mis-representative had understood anything about her product or SCSI. She had me buy part #10048 which is what she aparently tells everyone to buy, and which is exactly: | ||
| THE WRONG PART!!!! | ||
| She had me buy a 50 Pin standard printer connector, not a 50HD mini-SCSI connector. MORON! | So this is when I called back and demanded to speak with a manager. My response was "She is in a meeting and will call you back within 10 minutes." I am STILL WAITING for that phone call! | GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! |
| Well, I asked about parts with at least three other people before finding the correct adapter 50HD to 25Pin Serial. A bargain at the low low price of $79.50! | Costs Thus Far:
$030.00 Adapter $079.50 Adapter 2 $308.50 |
|
| Well, I was still trying to speak to a manager, so I made one last call to Iomega, only to have this customer service mis-representative tell me: | "whoops, nobody told you? Oh my, well, there is a technical advisory out which explains that the ZIP Plus is not compatible with *ANY* SCSI Adapters and Iomega will not support them" | |
![]() |
I should have kept the ZIP Plus as parallel and just reconfigured my
IRQ's.
My lesson was learned, but I also learned that the ZIP Plus product is a complete LIE, and that Iomega does not have a clue about how to properly support their products! How can they not support SCSI-II. Iomega can burn, I am off to the SuperDisk! |
Iomega is wrong for how I was treated, and how I have yet to get the
product for which I paid. The Zip Plus is not a SCSI-Parallel interchangable
device, there is no truth in their claims whatsoever. I have friends
who have had similar issues and mis-treatments and as such am forming a
boycott on Iomega until they address these issues to the satisfactioon
of US, their customers. Please take our logo
and place it on your website and across E-mails everywhere and link it
to this page so that we can get the message out.
Feel free to E-mail me your stories and ask others to do so as well,
I will compile them and use them to build our case. My
intent is to build a case strong enough to generate a class-action suit
against Iomega!!!! With your help,
we can and will succeed.
I will be adding excerpts from stories and other useful information for the cause in future weeks, bookmark this page and fight for what is right!
